ing. His vision had been perfect prior to a recent attack of typhoid fever, the diplopia having been first noticed during convalescence from this attack. He saw well with each eye individually but had double vision when using both eyes together, for both near and distant objects. Indeed whilst walking on the road, he had to close one eye. On examination both eyes were found to be normal with regard to examination of the conjunctiva, cornea, iris, tension, vitreous, and fundus oculi. No strabismus could be detected. All movements of both eyeballs were apparently normal. w
